Canadian parents can look forward to an increase in their Canada Child Benefit (CCB) payments starting in July 2025. However, the upcoming boost won’t match the substantial increases seen in the past two years.

Annual CCB Adjustments and Indexation
Every July, the Canadian government adjusts CCB amounts to align with changes in the cost of living. This process, known as indexation, ensures that maximum benefit amounts and income thresholds are updated annually.
“Indexation means that the maximum benefit amounts and income thresholds at which benefits begin to be reduced are increased annually to keep pace with the rising cost of living, giving parents more support each month to help them provide for their children,” a spokesperson for Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) explains.
The annual adjustments are determined using the Consumer Price Index (CPI), reflecting inflation trends across Canada.
CCB Payment Increases in 2024
In July 2024, parents received a significant 4.7% increase in their child benefit payments:
- Children under six: Maximum annual benefit increased by $350, from $7,437 to $7,787.
- Children aged six to 17: Maximum annual benefit rose by $295, from $6,275 to $6,570.
These adjustments provided much-needed support to families amid rising costs.
What to Expect for the 2025 CCB Increase
The upcoming CCB increase in July 2025 will be smaller compared to 2024’s adjustment. The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has announced a 2.7% increase for the new benefit year.
- Children under six: Annual benefit will rise from $7,787 to $7,997 ($666 monthly).
- Children aged six to 17: Annual benefit will increase from $6,570 to $6,748 ($562 monthly).
- Child Disability Benefit (CDB): Annual amount will increase from $3,322 to $3,411.
