The Ontario Taxpayer Rebate is rolling out, but not everyone has received their $200 payment yet. If you’re still waiting, you’re not alone! While the Ontario government started mailing cheques two weeks ago, delays are expected since the payments are being sent out in batches based on when residents filed their 2023 taxes.

When Will My Ontario Rebate Cheque Arrive?
According to Ministry of Finance spokesperson Scott Blodgett, the cheques are being sent out based on when residents filed their 2023 taxes.
✔ Filed early? Your cheque should already be on its way!
✔ Filed later? Expect delays, but it should arrive by mid-February.
As of January 29, 2025, over 8.15 million rebate payments had been sent out. Government officials expect the rest to be delivered by mid-February.
Unfortunately, there is no exact delivery date, so patience is key.
How to Track the Status of Your Ontario Rebate
The Ontario government has an online tracking tool where you can check your cheque’s status.
What You Need to Track Your Cheque:
- A ServiceOntario account (create one if you don’t have it)
- The last four digits of your SIN
- Your date of birth
- The postal code from your 2023 tax return
👀 What You’ll See:
- If your cheque has been mailed
- The address it was sent to
Tracking Link: Ontario.ca/TaxpayerRebate
What If I Moved? How to Update Your Address
If your cheque was sent to an old address, don’t panic! You can update your mailing address online or by calling ServiceOntario at 1-833-351-0409.
✔ What Happens Next?
- Your old cheque will be cancelled
- A new cheque will be mailed to your updated address
- Processing time: Up to 10 business days
⚠ Important: During the update process, the tracking tool may still display your old address—this is normal. Avoid submitting multiple address changes while waiting.
Note: You cannot update your address in person at a ServiceOntario location.
What If I Don’t Have a Fixed Address?
If you don’t have a permanent home, your rebate cheque will be sent to the address listed on your 2023 tax return.
This could include:
✔ A local shelter
✔ An Ontario Works office
✔ An Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) office
If needed, you can update your mailing address online or by phone.
Why Is the Ontario Rebate Being Sent by Cheque Instead of Direct Deposit?
Many Ontarians are wondering: Why no direct deposit?
When asked, Ministry of Finance spokesperson Scott Blodgett simply stated:
“Cheques are an effective way to deliver payments to eligible recipients.”
While this answer isn’t very detailed, it suggests that mailing cheques was the government’s chosen method for administrative or security reasons.
What to Do If You Haven’t Received Your Cheque by the End of February
If your cheque still hasn’t arrived by late February, here’s what you should do:
1️⃣ Check your status online at Ontario.ca/TaxpayerRebate
2️⃣ Call ServiceOntario at 1-833-351-0409 for updates
3️⃣ Ensure your address is correct and update it if necessary
⚠ Beware of Scams!
The government will never text, email, or call asking for your banking information regarding this rebate. If you receive any suspicious messages, do not respond!
Final Thoughts
If you’re still waiting for your $200 Ontario rebate cheque, don’t worry—most payments should arrive by mid-February. Use the online tracking tool, update your address if needed, and stay patient.
Your rebate is on the way! Hopefully, it’ll be in your mailbox very soon!
