ChatGPT, the popular AI chatbot, experienced a significant outage on August 15, 2024, affecting thousands of users worldwide. OpenAI, the company behind the chatbot, acknowledged the issue and assured users they were working diligently to restore service.
According to outage tracking website Downdetector, the number of reported problems spiked around 12PM USA (GMT-4). The majority of users encountered difficulties accessing ChatGPT, while others faced issues with the OpenAI website or the ChatGPT app.
OpenAI’s official statement confirmed the disruption, stating, “ChatGPT is unavailable for some users.” The company later provided an update, indicating that they had identified the problem and were in the process of addressing it.
