Our Mission
SOSCIP was a pioneering R&D advanced computing consortium based in Ontario. Launched in 2012, our mission was to bring together industrial partners and academic researchers, providing them with access to sophisticated computing technologies and expertise. This collaboration sought to solve social, technical, and business challenges across various sectors while driving economic growth and fostering innovation.
A History of Innovation
During its years of operation, SOSCIP emerged as a trailblazer in the Canadian innovation ecosystem. As a collaboration between 15 Ontario post-secondary institutions, IBM Canada Ltd., and numerous small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), SOSCIP offered cutting-edge computing resources, including AI, data science, and advanced analytics, to support research and development efforts.
By the time SOSCIP ceased operations, it had supported over 120 Canadian firms, catalyzed job creation, and retained critical skills within the Canadian workforce. It also played a crucial role in training opportunities, promoting the commercialization of new technologies, and fostering collaborations between academia and industry. Our projects spanned multiple sectors, including healthcare, manufacturing, clean technology, and more.
Continuing the Legacy
Though the SOSCIP consortium is no longer active, this portal stands as a tribute to its contributions to driving economic growth and technological advancements in Ontario.
