Who Is Eligible?
The settlement benefits:
- Current and former members of the Canadian Armed Forces and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP).
- Spouses and dependents of eligible veterans.
- Individuals who were eligible for VAC disability pensions, disability awards, or related benefits between 2002 and 2023 were affected by miscalculated annual adjustments.
Settlement Details
The plaintiffs in the lawsuit alleged that VAC errors in adjusting disability pensions under various laws and regulations led to systematic underpayments. While the Canadian government and VAC did not admit fault, they agreed to the settlement to resolve the claims.
Under the terms of the settlement:
- Class members will receive payments based on the benefits they received between 2003 and 2023.
- Veterans and families who received benefits for the entire period will receive a proportionally larger share of the settlement fund.

- File a Claim: Others must submit a claim form by March 19, 2025, along with required documents like VAC identifiers (CSDN ID, K Number, or Service Number).
For claims related to deceased veterans, proof of legal authority to act on behalf of the estate is required.
