Express Entry Draw for Canadian Experience Class(CEC): 4,000 ITAs Issued

Today, the first Express Entry draw of September for the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) issued 4,000 invitations to apply (ITAs) for permanent residency (PR). This draw specifically targeted profiles with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 509 or above, marking a 2-point rise in the cutoff score compared to the previous CEC draw.

This marks the 6th Express Entry draw of the year dedicated solely to CEC candidates, with 24,800 invitations issued in 2024. Notably, the cutoff score has decreased by 13 points since the first CEC draw in May 2024. Tips to Improve Your CRS Score for Future Draws

Don’t be discouraged if your CRS score falls short of the minimum cutoff in this draw. Here are some proactive steps you can take to enhance your score:

  1. Boost Your Language Scores: Higher proficiency in English or French can significantly impact your CRS ranking. Consider taking the IELTS or CELPIP for English, or TEF for French to achieve better scores.
  2. Increase Your Education: Update your profile with any new degrees or certifications. Higher education levels can yield valuable points.
  3. Gain More Work Experience: Additional years of relevant work experience, especially in high-demand occupations, can boost your CRS score. Canadian work experience is particularly advantageous.
  4. Obtain a Provincial Nomination: Securing a nomination through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) can add 600 points to your CRS score, greatly enhancing your chances for an ITA.
  5. Get a Valid Job Offer: A valid job offer from a Canadian employer can also increase your CRS score by up to 200 points.
  6. Consider Spousal Factors: If your spouse or partner has strong language skills or education credentials, including these factors can add points to your Express Entry profile.
