Health Canada Recalls Babyganics Kids Sunscreen Due to Solvent Issue

Health Canada has issued a recall for certain batches of SC Johnson & Son, Inc.’s Kids by Babyganics SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen Totally Tropical. The recall affects both the rollerball and continuous spray formats of the sunscreen after a solvent, monoglyme (also known as 1,2-dimethoxyethane), was discovered in the product above the permissible limit. This solvent, which can be absorbed through the skin or inhaled, poses potential health risks.

According to Health Canada, exposure to monoglyme may be harmful to fetal development and the reproductive system, particularly with frequent use. The recall applies to products with expiration dates in November 2025 and April 2026. A full list of the affected batches can be found on the Health Canada website.
