What’s the Problem?
A software malfunction in the ABS module may cause multiple safety issues, including:
- Brake Lights Malfunction: The brake lights may illuminate incorrectly, confusing drivers behind you.
- Disabled ABS and Electronic Stability Control (ESC): These critical safety systems could be deactivated, reducing your ability to control the vehicle during emergencies.
- Rollaway Risk: The SUV may allow the driver to start the vehicle and shift out of the Park without applying the brake pedal, increasing the risk of unintentional rollaway.
Each of these issues significantly raises the likelihood of a crash or other safety hazards.
The Fix
The automaker is currently developing a fix for the ABS module glitch. Once available, the repairs will be performed at no cost to owners.
- Notification Date: Stellantis will begin notifying owners starting December 5, 2024.
